Registering with the parish gives us a better idea about the demographic of our congregation, creates a line of connection between parish staff and your family, and gives us insight into programming options and activities. Whether or not you donate or volunteer, registering is helpful for both you and us.
We have two ways to register:
- Use a paper copy, found at the entrance to the church, or print one off. Forms can be returned to our front office in person during office hours, deposited in the collection plate at Mass, or mailed to us.
- Here is a PDF of the registration package: Parish Registration Form
- Register online through our secure form here: https://docs.google.com/forms/d/1fxx5J7Pxpt5mqWeRF1q4kUviw70oXa8XLnI9LWrJ4Ag/edit
Registering at St. Joseph’s Parish is optional for all churchgoers, whether you attend regularly or occasionally. Some benefits include:
- Being registered makes you officially a parishioner. As such, you are permitted to vote at our Annual General Meetings
- We get to know you, and we can suggest activities, parish groups, or volunteer opportunities to you and your family
- We understand our congregation. It is helpful to have a rough idea of the number of families, couples, and a general sense of the ages of members – both young and old – who attend
- It opens a line of communication. Many who register opt in to the Bulletin mailing list and our office staff reach out to you to say ‘hello’ and ‘welcome’
- It is easy to donate and receive a receipt. You can donate by guest envelope, mark your name, and all your history will be secured in our database until tax time when we send you a charitable tax receipt
- Sense of belonging. St. Joe’s is proudly a parish which welcomes and supports all demographics of parishioners – we are glad to have you with us!
- It is easier to provide you letters of support. At times, we receive pastoral letter requests for those wishing to get married or teach in the Catholic School Board from those claiming to be members of our church. It can often be difficult, if not impossible, to confidently verify these details if you are not registered
- Commitment to our community. St. Joe’s abides by the preferential option for the poor – assisting those who need it most. Your registration demonstrates support for the most marginalised in society
- Spiritual benefits. Once registered, many feel a personal connection to their parish, and are more likely to feel like they belong to a spiritual home
- Scheduling Sacraments, such as Baptisms, Weddings or Funerals. Being a parishioner means we know more about you and your family as you prepare to participate in the Sacraments of the Church.
