Marriage Preparation at St. Joes

Congratulations on your engagement!

Marriage Preparation is required for any marriage in the Catholic Church.  St. Joseph’s usually hosts Marriage Preparation twice a year, in both the spring and fall. Courses tend to fill up quickly, please book well in advance!

Fall 2024:

Wednesday Evenings @ 7:30pm:  Oct. 2-Dec. 4th 2024.

—Registration open—

Spring 2025:

TBD

  1.  MARRIAGE PREPARATION COURSE & WORKBOOK: The St. Joseph’s Marriage Preparation Course helps you better prepare for a marriage based in faith and community and to help build on your present foundation of communication and relationship building skills. It is designed to explore some of the demands and responsibilities of a faith-based marriage, and to examine your thoughts, beliefs, and feelings about your marriage.  A workbook is included in the course.
  2. If you reside in Ottawa but are getting married in another diocese, it is important that your marriage paperwork be completed in your home parish in Ottawa after which it will be sent to the (arch)diocese of the parish where your wedding will take place. Please ensure the paperwork is completed well in advance of your wedding to ensure enough time for the delivery of your marriage paperwork.
  3.  Online Pre-Marital Inventory
Once your registration is received for a given Marriage Preparation course, you will be sent a link to an online inventory, along with instructions.  You will each take the inventory online separately, on your own time. This is a pre-requisite for attending a Marriage Preparation Course. Couples get a lot out of these discussions as the inventory will highlight areas of agreement as well as areas that will benefit from more discussion between you and your fiancé.

COST
The cost for the Marriage Preparation weekend course, workbook and inventory is $185 per couple.
