Update on Mass Cancellations and Closures at St. Joseph’s Parish — And a Prayer from the Oblates

Dear St. Joseph’s Parish community,

In light of the state of emergency declared in Ontario and the subsequent instruction to suspend all public gatherings of 50 people or more due to the COVID-19 pandemic, all Masses are cancelled for a period of two weeks. As such, Mass will not be celebrated on 21/22 March 2020 and 28/29 March 2020. Weekday noon Masses are also cancelled during this period.

The Parish has taken the difficult decision to suspend the St. Joe’s Supper Table and the St. Joe’s Women’s Centre, as well as all ministry meetings and activities in our church community. While our Parish administrative offices will remain closed, we will work to keep the community connected in several ways. Please check our website and Facebook page for regular updates, as well as for reflections and other pastoral material. We will also be publishing a Liturgy of the Word script on our website ahead of this coming weekend.

We are sharing with you today a Prayer from the Missionary Oblates of Mary Immaculate in which we remember all those who are suffering both the medical and economic consequences of this pandemic. We would encourage all of our parishioners to continue reaching out by telephone and email to all those in our community who may be isolated, lonely or anxious at this time.

Thank you for continuing to remain engaged with St. Joe’s in the days and weeks ahead.
