Marsha Wilson has announced her retirement as Director of the St. Joe’s Women’s Centre effective April 1, 2023. Marsha leaves a remarkable legacy spanning 32 years. It was under her leadership that the Women’s Centre went from a small, volunteer-led church ministry to a City of Ottawa-funded day programme that employs four full-time staff, offers breakfast, lunch, facilities, case management and programmes for women, and receives more than half a million dollars each year in external funding. Marsha saw her role in our parish as a vocation, rather than a job. On paper, she worked 40 hours per week, but over the course of three decades, she dedicated her life to the Women’s Centre – often attending fundraising and community events in the evenings after a full day of work, building relationships with external partners and donors on weekends, and sitting on numerous external boards within the field of social justice.
We’re looking forward to marking Marsha’s legacy, and thanking her, with a major community event this spring. More information to come soon!
